Electric Multiple Unit Class 423- Germany
The consortium of Bombardier Transportation and ALSTOM LHB has developed the Model 423 S-Bahn multiple-unit train for Deutsche Bahn AG.
Access is possible throughout the four-part electric multiple-unit trains. A wide central aisle and 12 electrical swing-sliding doors on each side guarantee rapid and comfortable change-over of passengers. The self-closing doors support positive operation of the passenger cabin climate control. The generous space provision was attained by using the railway loading gauge available for S-Bahn operation. Access for disabled passengers is provided. Considerable use was made of environmentally-friendly materials during production.
The use of exhaust heat for heating purposes and the reclamation of energy during braking contribute to low energy consumption. Eight internal displays and speakers inform the passengers of the next stop.
The multiple-unit trains daily prove their reliability with great success in the population centres of Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt am Main and the Rhein-Ruhr.
