Negotiations for Reorientation of Bombardier in Germany Completed – Green Light for Implementation of the Transformation Received

March 28, 2018 Berlin Transportation,  Press Release

Bombardier Transportation has successfully completed its negotiations regarding the company’s reorientation in Germany in agreement with the employee representation. This was announced by the company today outside a meeting of the Bombardier Transportation GmbH Supervisory Board in Berlin. Along with the reconciliation of interests, a redundancy package and a volunteer programme have also now been agreed. This means that the transformation in German is regulated in an economically viable and, at the same time, socially responsible way.

“I am pleased that today we can give the green light for the implementation of our vigorous future strategy,” said Michael Fohrer, Head of Bombardier Transportation in Germany. “Our transformation covers three crucial points: the implementation of our platform strategy through higher product standardisation, the specialisation of our locations with clear assignment of competences and investments in digitisation. With this programme, Bombardier will become significantly more efficient and thus more competitive in Germany.”

The reorientation, which is expected to be completed by 2020, offers all German locations a long-term and sustainable perspective. The plans also include arrangements to reduce up to 2,200 positions in Germany by 2020, with around a third of them being temporary jobs.
