Ensuring Legal Compliance
Over 90 per cent of our sites are externally certified according to ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards. These standards provide the foundation for legal compliance and continuous performance improvement.
To ensure legal compliance, Bombardier Transportation subjects its sites to independent checks every three years. In Europe, legal compliance checks regarding the environment are covered by the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) at several sites.
Since 2001, production and service sites with over 150 employees (50 employees as of 2006) have been subjected to legal compliance surveys, whereby external experts determine whether all legal health, safety and environmental requirements have been met. In addition, they evaluate the implementation of HSE training programs and the progress made each year.
