Automated Metro - Taipei, Taiwan

Bombardier Transportation designed and supplied the electrical and mechanical systems for the 14.8 km (9.2 mi)  Neihu Line - an extension of the existing Muzha Line. The system commenced passenger service on July 4, 2009.

The Neihu Line is INNOVIA APM 256 automated metro technology. The new system serves 12 stations along a dual-lane guideway.

The 202 rubber-tired vehicles operate as 4-car trainsets. This configuration ensures the same functionality and physical interfaces as the original Muzha Line vehicles. The system is designed for a peak capacity of 28,400 passengers per hour per direction.

Bombardier also retrofitted the automatic train control system for the Muzha Line, the on-board train control of the 102 existing vehicles, as well as upgrading the existing Muzha control centre.  The CITYFLO 650 automatic train control (ATC) technology, allows both fleets to operate interchangeably on the Neihu and Muzha lines (known collectively as the Wenhu Line).
