Bombardier Transportation delivered the INNOVIA APM 200 automated people mover system at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in Arizona. Opened in April 2013, the award-winning PHX Sky Train® is used by 10,000 passengers every day.
Bombardier designed and supplied all electrical and mechanical equipment for the PHX Sky Train® system, including the highly proven CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology. A fleet of 18 INNOVIA APM 200 vehicles transports passengers comfortably and efficiently between a Metro light rail stop, airport parking and Terminal 4.
The vehicles operate on 1.7 miles of mostly elevated dual-track guideway. The system is currently being extended by 0.7 miles to Terminal 3 and this extension is scheduled to open in 2015. Bombardier is now providing operations and maintenance services, ensuring the system operates reliably and continuously 24 hours per day.
