INNOVIA APM 200 – Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, USA

Bombardier Transportation delivered the INNOVIA APM 200 automated people mover system at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2013. Known as PHX Sky Train®, the APM system provides a comfortable and efficient connection between the Airport’s Terminal 3, Terminal 4, airport parking and the regional transit network. Bombardier has provided operations and maintenance services since it opened, ensuring the system operates reliably and continuously 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Project summary:

  • A fleet of 18 driverless INNOVIA APM vehicles operating as 2-car trains
  • The mostly elevated 3.8 km (2.4 mi.) system is the first transit guideway in the world to go over an active taxiway, which is high enough for a 747 aircraft to pass underneath
  • The PHX Sky Train system is free to ride and carries 10,000 passengers each day
  • Bombardier designed and supplied all electrical and mechanical equipment for the PHX Sky Train system, including the highly proven CITYFLO 650 automatic train control technology.
