In time for the Beijing 2008 Olympics, Bombardier Transportation supplied the driverless INNOVIA APM 100 automated people mover system at Beijing Capital International Airport.
The INNOVIA APM 100 system operates on dual-guideway between three stations and serves the new international terminal, designated T3. Designed to carry 4,100 passengers per hour per direction, the 11 INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles are capable of operating as single-car trains or in consists of up to 4-car trains. Seven additional vehicles were ordered in 2008.
Bombardier was responsible for designing and supplying the INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles, the CITYFLO 550 automatic train control, communications systems, platform screen doors, switches, and equipping the maintenance facility. It is also providing operations and maintenance services.
