Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport's INNOVIA APM 100 automated people mover system is one of the busiest and most complex systems of its kind in the world. In service since 1980, Bombardier Transportation designed and supplied the initial automated people mover system and fleet of 17 vehicles.
Since then, system expansions have increased the length of the dual-lane system to 4.0 km (2.5 mi.). Operating in an underground spine, the current fleet of 49 INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles serve 15 stations. The system operates 20 hours a day with a nightly shuttle service, seven days a week, and moves in excess of 80 million passengers a year between the landside and international terminals and five airside concourses.
Bombardier has operated and maintained the system since the start of service, consistently delivering an on-time performance over 99.5 per cent.
