The City of Linz ordered 23 comfortable BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Outlook 100% low-floor trams. Following 33FLEXITY Outlook (Cityrunner) trams and FLEXITY Outlook vehicles for Pöstlingbergbahn, the 2009 European Capital of Culture has once more opted for Bombardier.
The new tram on order for Linz is a further development of the 33 Cityrunners, which have been in successful revenue service in the city since 2002. Conventional wheel-set bogies and a completely stepless 100% low-floor interior ensure a smooth ride and enable passengers to get on and off easily. The 40.6 metre long and 2.3 metre wide vehicles accommodate 227 passengers, and two spacious multi-purpose areas provide plenty of room for prams and wheel-chairs. The functional interior design elements of the new vehicle integrate many years of day-to-day operational experience. The design developed by Peter Döllmann together with LINZ LINIEN GmbH received the red dot design award. The new FLEXITY Outlook trams are coloured in the corporate colours of LINZ AG and enliven the cityscape of Linz since 2011.
