TURBOSTAR- United Kingdom

The reliable TURBOSTAR trains are fitted out to the highest standard, equipped with airconditioning, catering trolley facilities and public telephone. Other features include tables, upgraded seating and accommodation for wheelchair users, together with LED dot-matrix passenger information displays inside each car.

The bodyshells are assembled from welded aluminium alloy extrusions, include bolton-steel vehicle ends to meet the current Structural Design Load requirements, and feature an aerodynamically-efficient cab front. The wide door openings allow easy access, and the poweroperated sliding-plug doors give a smooth external finish and maximise interior space. Bombardier's well proven air sprung bogies afford an excellent ride. An MTU diesel engine, Voith Hydrodynamic Transmission and ZF final drives complete the specification
