Light Rail Transit System - Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Bombardier Transportation and Taylor Woodrow International were lead sponsors in the Kuala Lumpur Sri Petaling and Ampang Lines, formerly known as STAR (Sistem Transit Aliran Ringan). STAR was a special-purpose, limited-recourse project company, which was awarded a 30-year concession to finance, design, build and operate both phases of the Kuala Lumpur Light Rail Transit. The system is now operated by RapidKL.

The 27-kilometre (16.7-mile) route was constructed in two phases. Phase 1, the Ampang Line, covers a distance of 12 kilometres (7.5 miles) and links the central business district with the eastern suburbs. A 9.5-kilometre (5.9-mile) section is at ground level on a former railway line, while 2.5 kilometres (1.5 miles) running through the inner city is elevated on a viaduct, providing a fully segregated alignment. The line's 13 stations reflect the region's characteristic architectural style and are constructed at a higher elevation so that gravity assists acceleration and braking.

Phase 2, the Sri Petaling Line, is a 15-kilometre (9.3-mile) track with 12 stations. A 3.9-kilometre (2.5-mile) section is elevated with the remainder at ground level. The main section of this line connects the city centre to the National Sports Complex and Games Village at Bukit Jalil in the south.
