FLEXITY Swift - Cologne k4500, Germany

A new generation of low-floor light rail vehicles of the BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Swift family completes the fleet of the Cologne transport authority (KVB). Bombardier Transportation delivers a total of 69 bi-directional vehicles to the German city on the Rhine

The vehicles are based on the FLEXITY Swift concept for high- and low-floor light rail vehicles which has already been successfully implemented in Cologne. KVB will soon operate a total of 267 Bombardier-built vehicles. A main benefit for the operator is the utilization of a high number of identical parts and components which results in reduced costs for storage, repair and maintenance. An air-conditioned interior and spacious multi-purpose areas provide for a pleasant journey, a modern video surveillance system ensures additional safety. The vehicles can be operated in double-traction in order to meet increased passenger-volumes.
