Bombardier Transportation were awarded the Madrid APM project in 2001, representing the first fully automated transit system in Spain.
The CITYFLO 550 system consists of an EBI Screen control room and EBI Cab ATC onboard equipment. 19 fully automated CX-100 vehicles will operate in a pinched loop configuration with each vehicle fitted with CCTV capability for monitoring safety conditions onboard.
The 2.7 km long system will provide the service between the new terminal and new satellite terminal, with 3 vehicles running on the dual line. Through CITYFLO 550, phase 1 of the project will provide an average passenger flow rate 6,500 passengers per hour per day.
