EBI Drive 50 Driver Assistance System
Bombardier’s EBI Drive 50 Driver Assistance System helps drivers by making recommendations concerning velocity and acceleration or deceleration. This smart software tool saves up to 15 per cent of traction energy and reduces wear and costs. It can be used on new trains and retrofitted to existing vehicles.
EBI Drive 50 improves the performance of:

Smoother Operation Reduces Wear and Costs
The EBI Drive 50 system minimizes the energy needed to run a train according to its allotted timetable. Smoother operation of the train reduces wear on the wheel sets, engines, brakes and tracks. This, in turn, drives down operational costs.
Real-time Assistance Onboard
The EBI Drive 50 technology operates onboard through a communication gateway to the wayside and central workstations. It calculates speed and traction force profiles. The EBI Drive system 50 constantly updates optimized target velocity and traction force to the actual time and position. This real-time data is displayed in the cab and the driver reacts accordingly to optimize driving.
