Light Rail Transit System - Nottingham, UK

Bombardier, as a member of the Arrow Light Rail Ltd. Concession Company, was responsible for the landmark 30.5-year contract to design, build, operate and maintain the Nottingham Express Transit (NET) Line 1 light rail system. The 14-kilometre (8.7-mile) turnkey system connects Nottingham's mainline station with Hucknall in the north and Phoenix Park in the west, integrating 8 km (4.9 mi.) of new track parallel to the existing heavy rail route

Bombardier provided 15 100% low-floor vehicles, capable of carrying 193 passengers at speeds reaching 80 km/h (50 mph). The vehicle’s interior was tailored to meet the needs of visually- and mobility-impaired passengers. New design innovations to the cab provides the driver with a fully ergonomic layout.

NET Line 1 is recovering its capital and operations and maintenance costs from farebox revenues supplemented by performance-based payments from the National Government paid through Nottingham City and Nottinghamshire County Councils.
