Mass Transit Systems
AirTrain JFK at Kennedy Airport in New York City set another record by surpassing its projected ridership figures. About 40,000 passengers ride the airport's AirTrain each day, while the system continues to grow in popularity. On behalf of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, we have operated and maintained the driverless INNOVIA ART 200 advanced rapid transit system since it opened to passenger service in late 2003.
As the full service provider, we consider safety and system security the overriding priorities in all our operations and maintenance (O&M) activities. Our teams of experienced O&M staff are responsible for operating the ultra-modern central control centre, maintaining the 32-car fleet, all subsystems, including platform doors,10 stations,13 km of dual track and guideway structure, depot and workshop equipment, spare parts, 4 power substations, elevators, escalators and moving walkways within the stations. Additional security measures include real-time CCTV and digital recording in all stations and portions of the guideway. While operating AirTrain to high levels of reliability and availability, proven O&M policies and procedures are applied by skilled employees to optimize system performance.
At the front line of our O&M organization are customer service representatives. Their mandate is to provide a positive experience for every passenger at every stage of their movement through the system and to ensure that each customer contact creates a favourable response every time, everywhere.
