Phase I of the Ankara Metro System in Turkey was completed by the Ankara Metro Consortium, consisting of Bombardier Transportation, SNC-Lavalin Inc. And two Turkish construction and engineering firms, Gama Endüstri Tesisleri Imalat ve Montaj A.S. and Güris Insaat ve Mühendislik A.S. The Consortium also arranged for complete financing of the project, including Canadian and UK export credits and a commercial loan from an international bank syndicate.

Bombardier Transportation designed and supplied the 108-vehicle fleet, automatic train control, communications and maintenance equipment, including overall systems engineering, integration, training and system test and commissioning. Bombardier also provided operations and maintenance advisory services.
