INNOVIA Automated People Mover System - London Gatwick Airport, UK
Bombardier Transportation replaced the existing inter-terminal transit system, which they installed in the late 1980s at London Gatwick Airport, with a modern automated people mover system in 2010.
New vehicles replaced the original fleet and now operate on the existing elevated guideway that connects the North and South terminals. During implementation of the project, one lane of the dual-lane guideway remained operational to minimize disruption of service between the terminals.
Bombardier is responsible for the design and supply of six INNOVIA APM 100 vehicles, automatic train control, communications and power distribution systems, station platform doors, as well as project management, systems engineering and integration and test and commissioning for the 1.2 km dual-lane system.
