BOMBARDIER INNOVIA ART – New York, USA

Bombardier Transportation, as part of the AirRail Transit Consortium, was responsible for the design and supply of a fully automated system for New York’s JFK International Airport. Opened in 2003, AirTrain JFK connects 10 elevated stations and links all terminals in JFK’s Central Terminal area with two branches that interface with New York’s regional transit systems.

The INNOVIA ART 200 advanced rapid transit system features 32 driverless vehicles with linear-induction-motor propulsion, extra-wide doors and on-board luggage racks. These INNOVIA ART 200 vehicles are ideally suited to tight curves, steep grades, precise stopping requirements and demanding schedule adherence.

Bombardier has been operating and maintaining the 13-kilometre (8-mile) system since 2003.
