FLEXITY Classic - Dortmund, Germany
The Dortmund transport authority (DSW21, Dortmunder Stadtwerke AG) ordered 47 low-floor trams of the proven FLEXITY Classic family. Based on the vehicles of the same type for Frankfurt/Main the new Dortmund low-floor trams contribute to barrier-free and comfortable travelling in the city. Since April 2008 the vehicles are in operation on the east-west network.
The FLEXITY Classic trams feature mileage-proven wheel-set bogies which ensure a smooth and unruffled journey. Level entrances at all doors facilitate boarding and exiting the vehicle. The 30-meter long trams can carry up to 178 passengers, including 64 seated. For heightened passenger comfort and safety the new trams are equipped with air conditioning and a video-surveillance system. For wheelchair users special areas are foreseen.
