FLEXITY Swift - Porto, Portugal
Bombardier supplies 30 bi-directional FLEXITY Swift low-floor light rail vehicles to Metro do Porto's state-of-the-art light rail transit system. The vehicles are built for operation on the suburban lines, connecting the neighbouring cities with the city centre of Porto.
All four bogies of the vehicles are motorised, enabling exceptional acceleration values. With a maximum speed of 100 km/h passengers enjoy quick and efficient travelling. Comfort features include seating for 100 passengers, level entrances and wide double doors for easy access, air-conditioning and spacious multipurpose areas.
During the first phase of the Metro do Porto light rail transit system Bombardier already supplied 72 FLEXITY Outlook 100 % low-floor vehicles which have been in successful revenue service since December 2002. As member of a consortium Bombardier was also responsible for signalling systems, depot and workshop equipment as well as radio systems.
