FLEXITY Swift – Cologne K5000, Germany
The Cologne Transport Authority (KVB) ordered 74 BOMBARDIER FLEXITY Swift vehicles. The high floor cars are based on the modular manufacturing and the proven components of the Bombardier low-floor vehicles previously delivered to Cologne. The operator thereby reduces costs for storage, maintenance and repair. The high-floor FLEXITY Swift vehicle is in operation on the Cologne network running from the North to the South of the city and featuring 900 mm platforms.
The vehicle offers the passengers comfort features such as fully air-conditioned interior, unrestricted view through the driver's cabin as well as seats resistant against vandalism.
In December 2000 the Bonn Transport Authority (SWB) ordered 15 identical high-floor light rail vehicles which operate on joint lines with the KVB.
