CITYFLO 650 - London, United Kingdom
The London Underground project was awarded to Bombardier Transportation in June 2011 to deliver Bombardier’s CITYFLO 650 communication-based train control (CBTC) system for the Sub Surface Railway (SSR) signalling upgrade (SUP) of the London Underground in the UK.
The full scope of the project is the signalling renewal and provision of an automatic train control (ATC) system for the four sub-surface lines (Metropolitan, District, Circle, Hammersmith and City) of the London Underground network. Carrying 1.3 million passengers a day, the four lines included in the project amount to 40% of the total London Underground network and carry 25% of the total ridership. Bombardier will equip the 310 km of track line (40 km in tunnels), 113 stations, 191 train sets, 49 engineering trains and six heritage trains, by 2018.
