Commitment to Corporate Responsibility
At Bombardier Aerospace, we are committed to being a responsible corporate citizen. Together with our parent company, Bombardier Inc., we recognize our responsibility to act in harmony with our mission, core values, policies and leadership attributes.
In May 2007, Bombardier released its Corporate Responsibility Roadmap, which outlines several areas in which the company will strive to improve its practices. At the same time, it announced that it has become a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, an international voluntary declaration.
By joining the UN Global Compact, Bombardier made a commitment to become a responsible corporate citizen in the way it interacts with its key stakeholders − including employees, suppliers and communities. Bombardier will report on its initiatives related to the 10 principles of this international declaration, and strive for continuous improvement over time.
At Bombardier Aerospace, we are already involved in many initiatives across business units, sites and functions, but will now approach corporate responsibility in a more systematic and strategic manner. An Aerospace Corporate Responsibility Committee has been established, composed of representatives of all business units and functions, to prioritize and monitor opportunities and initiatives covering all aspects of corporate responsibility.
Ten Principles of the Global Compact:
Human rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Labour standards
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
