Dieter John is President Central Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia/CIS, overseeing the rolling stock and service business of that region as well as its global locomotive and light rail vehicle business. He joined Bombardier in July 2014. On December 4, 2014 Dieter John was also appointed Chairman of the management board of Bombardier Transportation GmbH (BTG).
Prior to joining Bombardier, Dieter held a number of leadership positions in the global aerospace and defence sector.
Starting in 2012, he served as Executive Vice President Corporate Development of Airbus Group (formerly EADS), with responsibilities for Future Trends & Intelligence, Strategy & Enterprise Initiatives, Portfolio Development, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Post Merger Integration and Carve Out Management.
Between 2006 and 2012, he was Chief Financial Officer/Executive Vice President and Executive Committee Member of the Eurocopter Group with group-wide responsibility for Finance, Treasury, Controlling, Accounting, Tax, Offer Evaluation, Costing, Insurance, Risk Management, Real Estate Management, and Information Management.
From 2003 to 2006, Dieter served as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Astrium Satellites after having served as Deputy CFO and Vice President Group Control for Astrium Group since 2001.
Dieter started his career in 1989 as Management Trainee with Messerschmitt Boelkow Blohm (MBB) and assumed a range of management positions of increasing responsibility thereafter. These included that of Controller, Head of Controlling, Post Merger Integration Manager, Senior Manager Planning/Control and Vice President Finance, Control, Procurement, Logistics, Offers, and Contracts spanning various divisions and entities of Deutsche Aerospace/Daimler Benz Aerospace through 2001.
Dieter John studied business administration and management and holds a CVA, MBA, MSC and Dipl.-Bw. degree from German, UK, and US universities.
