Bombardier FLEXITY Outlook – Strasbourg, France

The Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) ordered on behalf of the Communauté Urbaine de Strasbourg a total of 53 Bombardier FLEXITY Outlook trams since 1991. The first batch of the 100% low-floor trams consisted of 26 vehicles in a 7-module configuration with a length of 33.1 metres. Eighteen trams of the second batch, ordered in 1996, were delivered with 9 modules, making this vehicle one of the longest trams in the world. The trend-setting design of the FLEXITY Outlook tram fits effortlessly with the historic background of Strasbourg, seat of the European Parliament. The configuration and comfort of the vehicles were key in defining new standards for Strasbourg's urban transport: the wide doors and low-floor entrances make loading and unloading of passengers easy, a wide aisle between the seats as well as space for prams and wheelchairs offer extra freedom of movement. Passengers enjoy a feeling of additional transparency due to indirect lighting and large windows. Upholstered seats and air conditioning make for an enjoyable travelling experience.
